Bella Beauty: From Garage Start-Up to Thriving Enterprise

In a testament to resilience and perseverance, Bella Beauty has reached unprecedented success. Owner Rebecca now enjoys the benefits of a balanced life, working from home and spending shorter days in Dursley, her nearest town. This newfound flexibility allows her to invest in training and coaching, enabling the introduction of long-desired treatments.

Bella Beauty's story began in 2004 during a weekend in Palma. Inspired by a heartfelt conversation with her fiancé, Rebecca enrolled in a part-time waxing course, discovering a passion for beauty. By May 2005, she had opened a home-based business in Bristol. However, personal tragedies struck: her father passed away in February 2005, and in May 2006, her fiancé died suddenly.

Facing the potential loss of her home, Rebecca seized an opportunity at a nearby private leisure club, despite the difficult timing. A local couple approached her with an offer to partner in the new premises. This partnership quickly proved challenging, leading Rebecca to secure a £13,000 loan to dissolve the partnership and regain control of Bella Beauty.

The salon initially thrived, but the recession took its toll. With both therapists leaving, Rebecca continued alone, often overwhelmed. In 2009, she found a new self-employed therapist, and together they became top Dermalogica stockists in the Southwest. However, this partnership ended in 2011, leading to a downsizing decision. Despite this, an investment in HD Brows training paid off, significantly boosting the business.

Rebecca faced further challenges, renting space to two self-employed therapists and managing bookings with the help of a virtual phone answering service. Her role as a trainer for Fake Bake and later Sienna X, while balancing her salon, showcased her dedication to the beauty industry.

In 2013, Rebecca’s then-husband sold his company, but his subsequent illness required some day-to-day care. She sold her salon lease and invested in an American Airstream Caravan, setting up a new business from her home. This unique setup attracted clients, but the small space limited her ability to expand.

A separation in 2020 forced Rebecca to find new premises. She found a solution at a local salon in Dursley, where she worked for over two years, rebuilding her client base. Despite personal struggles, including a lengthy divorce and financial difficulties, Rebecca persevered, maintaining her business and credit score.

By October 2023, with her challenges behind her, Rebecca reinvested in Bella Beauty, focusing on growth and new treatments. This marked a new chapter, emphasizing resilience and adaptability. Bella Beauty is now poised for even greater success, with Rebecca balancing a thriving business and a fulfilling personal life.
